leadership.
In the Episcopal Church our leadership consists of both ordained and lay people. Each person has different gifts to serve the church, and we believe regardless of gender or sexual identity everyone should be empowered to answer the call of the Holy Spirit on their lives.

Ordained leaders are clergy and similar to a pastor or minister in other denominations. The difference with ordination is it is considered a sacrament, that is, an outward and visible sign of an inward grace bestowed by God. Our ordained clergy are called priests and deacons and they are ordained by the laying on of hands by a bishop. Ordained clergy in the Anglican tradition can trace the hands laid on them at ordination all the way back to the apostles in the early church.

Lay leaders are not ordained, but are members of the community who have discerned a call to step deeper into their Baptismal Covenants and grow in their abilities as leaders, admin experts or serving on committees that help guide and steer the church community.

We invite you to meet our team, and reach out if you are a feeling your own sense of call, be it ordained or lay minsitry.

The Reverend Rachel Harber
Vicar
Mother Rachel sensed her call to ministry while working as a Congressional Staffer on Capitol Hill. She left policy work to attend seminary at Virginia Theological Seminary, graduating in May of 2020 with a Masters of Divinity and Certificate in Christian Spirituality. She was ordained to the priesthood by the Diocese of Virginia, and relocated back to Central Texas to be closer to family. In August of 2021 she was called by The Episcopal Diocese of Texas to start a new Episcopal community in Belton, that work led to the beginning of St. Cornelius Episcopal Church in August of 2022.
Prior to accepting her call as a church planter she worked for six-years as Director of Operations for Every Child Fed, a non-profit working to prevent and treat malnutrition in children in Africa. Her final work with the organization was to implement a fundraising campaign and summit Mt. Kilimanjaro to raise funding for a mental health program for mothers in Sierra Leone.
In addition to her work as a priest, she holds a 200hr Yoga Teacher Certification from Holy Yoga and is working on a certification in Ayuverdic Nutrition.
She lives by Lake Belton and feeds her soul by hiking and backpacking, practicing yoga, and discovering new adventures with her husband Eric and their dogs Ringo and Pax.
