our church.

Our community formed in August of 2021 with a small group of six gathering under a tree at Yettie Polk Park. In the Spring of 2022, after a three month process of discernment we chose the name St. Cornelius. The story of Cornelius the Centurion and the Apostle Peter in Act 10 speaks to the way God continually reveals in scripture how God continually surprises us about who is included and what is permissible.

After outgrowing our shared space at Level 3 Coworking in Downtown Belton we moved to our own space near Lake Belton in late fall of 2023.

Our mission statement, "A haven for all" speaks to the way our community seeks to create a safe space for healing and exploring the edges of faith in an intentional and loving community. It holds us accountable to loving our neighbor and seeking God's love in the face of everyone who walks in the door.

our values.

  • Foundational to our community is Jesus' teaching that the most important thing is to love God and others

  • All are welcome to full participation in the church and her sacraments, regardless of gender or sexual identity

  • We seek to reduce our ecological footprint and uphold God's command to be good stewards of creation

  • We are messy, imperfect and relaxed as we learn and grow together

  • We address conflict with grace, humility and listening -- not allowing things to be swept under the rug

  • Creativity is important to our community and we partner with local artists to connect theology and art

  • We expect our community to participate in the life of the church, serving both God and neighbor through service to both the church and wider community
